The 8th annual Vijay Awards was held in a grand manner at Nehru Stadium, Chennai on Saturday.
The event was a star-studded affair with the presence of several big stars of Indian cinema including Kamal Haasan, Shah Rukh Khan, Surya, Vijay, Oscar winner A.R.Rahman, director Shankar and Prabhu among others.
Other celebrities including Santhanam, Ramya Krishnan, Vikram Prabhu, Nayantara, Arjun, Hansika, Kushboo, Dhansika, Nazriya Nazim, Sivakarthikeyan, music composer Anirudh, Nani of "Naan Ee" fame, Parthepan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vani Kapoor of "Aaha Kalyanam" fame and Rajeev Menon were also present for the grand event.
"Thala" Ajith's "Arrambam", which hit the screens in 2013, won the Vijay Award for favourite film. Ilayathalapathy Vijay won the favourite hero award, while versatile actor Kamal Haasan bagged the best actor award for "Vishwaroopam."
Siva Karthikeyan : Our Sivakarthikeyan, who is on a roll with back-to-back successful films, bagged the best entertainer of the year award.
Santhanam won the best comedian award for the fifth consecutive time.
